Nascar a sport?
"Is Nascar a sport", This debate has been going on for a while and here’s what I think. the definition of a sport according to the oxford dictionary is, an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment, so by definition Nascar is a sport it is both a individual sport and a team sport. While Nascar can be fun to watch, I do not think it is a sport. there is no physical benefit to Nascar, the physical exertion consists of sitting in your car for hours and withstanding the high tempters of the track. Nascar does require skill, you need to know how fast to go on specific tracks and what speed to take a turn at so you don’t go into the wall. The biggest reason why I do not consider Nascar a sport is the rules, you can win a race but still not get the most points, you can qualify pole but start last if you wreck in practice. If you where to ask 10 Nascar fans what the rules of Nascar are 3 of them might know and if they do know the rules they change all the time. If you where to ask 10 fans of any other sport for its rules 7-10 would answer right. Nascar is fun to watch most people only watch hopping to see a crash. Its also a great marketing idea, where else will someone pay $30+ for a shirt that advertises Lowes or some other company.
