NFL Draft

It's that time of year again, the NFL draft witch is when teams select the players of the future. With the NFL owners locking out the players all of the fans at the draft booed the Commissioner Roger Goodell and chanted "we want football" witch I loved, and after the Commissioner finished introducing the 2011 hall of fame class (Deion Sanders, Marshall Faulk, Shannon Sharp, Richard Dent, Ed Sabol, Les Richter and Chris Hanburger) and the rookies who came to the draft the draft started. with the first pick the Carolina Panthers got QB out of Auburn Cam Newton This pick looks good Cam is a big QB who is mobile and can throw it deep, but I don't like this pick. When I see Cam and here people talk about how he's a big strong QB who has a cannon for a arm I think about the first overall pick from 2007 JaMarcus Russsell who all the draft expert said was a big strong QB who has a cannon for a arm, the only thing Cam has that JaMarcus didn't is mobility if Carolina finds a way to utilize Cam I think he will have a good career I dont think he will be a starting QB but if Carolina moves him to TE or FB I think he could contribute to the team and add some good trick plays the the Panthers could run. I think Carolina should have drafted A.J Green to help Jimmy Clausen. The Minnesota Vikings used the number 12 pick to get Florida State QB Christian Ponder a QB who i think would have been left at pick 43 for them. besides those picks I liked the draft and thought most teams got guy who can come in a help the team. My favorite pick was Von Miller who the Denver broncos took at number 2, this guy reminds me of Julius Peppers and with John Fox being the new head coach in Denver I think we will see some good things out of Von Miller. Now that the draft is over it's time for evry fan of the NFL to start praying that the lockout ends and the NFL can get back to football.

Americas pastime

“Does the MLB need a salary cap”  This topic has been debated for years, so now I thought I’d write what I think. Yes they do, the difference between spending in 2010 for the team with the highest payroll (NY Yankees $206,333,389) and the team with the lowest payroll (Pittsburg Pirates $34,943,000) is $171,390,389. The average player salary for the Yankees was $8,253,336 and the average player salary for the Pittsburg Pirates was $1,294,185. The Yankees finished the 2010 regular season with a record of 95-67 witch was the second best record in the AL East and the third best record in the MLB while the Pirates where 57-105 witch was last in the NL Central and the worst record in the MLB. The best players will gravitate towards the teams that can pay them the most money, and the teams the have the best players will draw the most fans to the games. The more fans that come to games the more money a team will get in revenue and that will always keep the rich teams on top. The Yankees have 27 World Series victories have made 40 World Series and are always one of the favorites to win the World Series, while the Pirates have not made a World Series since 1979 and they are considered one of the worst teams in baseball today. If the MLB started revenue sharing then it would create more Parity in the sport and might turn baseball back into Americas pastime.

Nascar a sport?

"Is Nascar a sport", This debate has been going on for a while and here’s what I think. the definition of a sport according to the oxford dictionary is, an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment, so by definition Nascar is a sport it is both a individual sport and a team sport. While Nascar can be fun to watch, I do not think it is a sport. there is no physical benefit to Nascar, the physical exertion consists of sitting in your car for hours and withstanding the high tempters of the track. Nascar does require skill, you need to know how fast to go on specific tracks and what speed to take a turn at so you don’t go into the wall. The biggest reason why I do not consider Nascar a sport is the rules, you can win a race but still not get the most points, you can qualify pole but start last if you wreck in practice. If you where to ask 10 Nascar fans what the rules of Nascar are 3 of them might know and if they do know the rules they change all the time. If you where to ask 10 fans of any other sport for its rules 7-10 would answer right. Nascar is fun to watch most people only watch hopping to see a crash.  Its also a great marketing idea, where else will someone pay $30+ for a shirt that advertises Lowes or some other company.
